D. Stephen Slack
President and Chief Executive Officer

Steve Slack has been active in all managerial and financial aspects of oil and gas company operations since 1988 when he joined Pogo Producing as its Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to that Slack was employed by the energy groups of Bank of America and later JP Morgan Chase where he concluded his banking career as Regional Vice President of its Southwest Energy Group. In addition to being a founder and director of Inventory Management and Distribution Company and it's successor company, Falcon Gas Storage, Steve was also a director of Pogo Producing Company and currently serves as a director of the Cornell Companies.

A graduate of the University of Southern California and Columbia University, Slack is the President and Chief Executive Officer of South Bay.

Scott T. Rubsamen
Vice President of Operations

Scott T. Rubsamen has been involved in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons since he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A & M University in 1985. A Petroleum Engineer, Scott has been engaged in all aspects of drilling, completion and field operations. Until forming South Bay, Scott had been employed since 1989 by Tri C Resources, Inc. While at Tri-C he was responsible for drilling, production, field operations, regulatory, and vendor activities.

Rubsamen is the Vice President of Operations for South Bay.

Steven Tobias
Vice President of Exploration

Steven Tobias serves as the Vice President of Exploration for South Bay Resources. A graduate of Queens College (1975) with a Masters in Geophysics from Pennsylvania State University, Steve has worked as an explorationist for a number of prominent oil and gas companies, including Mobil, Tenneco, BHP and Pogo Producing Company. While at Pogo, Tobias was directly responsible for generating numerous successful international prospects, including Benchamas, Thailand's largest offshore oil field. Projects under his management have been located both domestically and internationally, in locales ranging from Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and the Gulf of Mexico to Australia, Nigeria, Indonesia, and the Carpathians. From 1996 through 2003, Tobias served as president of the Energy Outpost Company, which provided prospect generation services and field development / exploitation planning to a number of domestic and international oil and gas companies. Tobias has published and lectured extensively about multiple-source data integration, workflow processes and reservoir characterization techniques, among other topics.

Tobias was recently awarded US patent number 6,807,486 B2 alongside Weatherford for a "Method of Using Underbalanced Well Data for Seismic Attribute Analysis".

Michael Benrud
Chief Geologist

Michael S. Benrud, has over 16 years experience working with multi-discipline teams on development and exploratory projects. He worked at Ensource/UMC Petroleum/Ocean Energy for twelve years and two years at the Energy Outpost Company. Domestically, he has worked the Texas Panhandle, Anadarko Basin, Permian Basin, East Texas, Texas Gulf Coast, South Louisiana, Offshore Texas, and Offshore Louisiana. Internationally, his experience has been in Cote d'Ivoire, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Egypt, Bangladesh and Pakistan. He has experience in a wide range of depositional environments: continental, fluvial, shelf, slope, and deep water.

Michael has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Bradley University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Houston.

Claude V. Perrier, III
Landman

Claude Perrier received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Louisiana State University in 1980. Since then, he has been active in the oil and gas industry as a Landman. His 28 years of experience have been spread over 13 states in the US, Canada, and the Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf. In 1985, Claude founded the Land Management Group (LMG). As Principal of LMG, he performed and managed all types of land acquisition projects including leasing for oil and gas, hard mineral, cell tower, pipeline and fiber optic rights of way.
